Year 5 and 6 Lead Pride Assembly

A group of our wonderful Year 5 and 6 children volunteered to share their learning this half term about Pride with the rest of the children in school.

The children wanted to make sure that all of our children understood the importance of being safe to be who you are ahead of the start of Pride History Month in February.

Throughout the assembly, the children reiterated the message that we have No Outsiders at William Rhodes and that everyone is welcome here: we celebrate difference!

The children taught us about how the pride flag came to be and why it is so important to the LGBTQ+ community, but can represent us all.

Our children could remember the protected characteristics from the 2010 Equality Act and understood how this related to the LGBTQ+ community.

It was a wonderful assembly: an inspiring celebration of acceptance and difference. Well done!
